SOCIAL EVENTS
Here at Tundra, we have a group of people dedicated to making Tundra a fun place to work. The Tundra Social Committee plans many events throughout the year, including the signature event, the monthly "Crazy Friday". On the last Friday of every month, we get together for some light hearted games such as name that tune, office mini-golf or a multi-floor scavenger hunt. Add in some finger food and a casual beverage or two and it's the perfect way to unwind after a busy month.
The social committee is also busy planning bigger events such as our yearly charity casino night, Stampede lunch, group camping, Christmas Party, and many others throughout the year. We believe that hard work is very important, but so is enjoying what you do, and having fun with your fellow office mates.
For two weeks every September Tundra employees and managers participate in the Calgary Corporate Challenge, and as each year goes by, we have more and more fun.
The CCC is kind of like the Olympics, only without the incredibly buff athletes or real gold medals. It is now entering its thirteenth year and involves 18,000 participants from 200 companies. It is the largest annual amateur athletic event in Canada. Also, the CCC collects over $500,000 for several local charities, such as the Calgary Interfaith Food bank and KidSport!
Tundra is always encouraging employees to be more active and have fun, and the CCC is the perfect chance to do that. The CCC provides us an opportunity for the team to come together, show some company pride and have some spirit! Commuter Challenge
We at Tundra are proud to have received the award for the highest participation of employees for companies of our size in Calgary in 2007 and again in 2008.
This means that as a group we are on the leading edge of sustainable development with respect to commuting to work. More of our staff bike, run, walk or take public transit to work. For those who still drive their vehicles, we encourage them to car pool with their neighbors.
Tundra is a leader in green thinking amongst its peers in the engineering consulting field in Calgary. We attempt to carry this “green thinking” both in our work for our clients and in our recreational activities. We continue to work with Sustainable Alberta on programs to encourage healthy commutes, reduce pollution and make our world a better place to live.
Slammers
The Tundra Slammers have been part of the Calgary Engineering Slo-Pitch league since 2004. Our schedule consists of one game a week between Monday and Thursday from the beginning of May till the end of August. We close the season with a year end ball tournament held in Carsland which is an absolute blast. This league is strictly for fun and we encourage every one to come out and have a great time!
